We are a group of Christians who have our origins some two hundred years ago in Dublin Ireland and Plymouth England. As a company of Christians, we gather in simplicity to the name of our Lord Jesus in accordance with Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three are gathered together unto my name, there am I in the midst of them.” We have no one man in authority/responsibility such as a pastor or reverend, but hold sacredly the headship of Christ as the supreme authority, and the Holy Spirit as the directive agent in the midst of our gatherings when we come together for meetings of the church. As a result, gifts given to the church, Ephesians 4: 7-16 are given by Christ the ascended head. 

These gifts are given in plurality to men (masculine) and not in singularity as though one person alone is in charge (clericalism) in a local church. One of our founders has rightly put it when he said that clericalism is the greatest sin against the Holy Spirit. We believe in and subscribe to the unerring Word of God – the Bible, as to its authority and infallibility. It is inspired of God and is profitable for teaching, for conviction, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; that the man of God may be complete, fully fitted to every good work, 2 Timothy 3:16-17. 

We hold to the woman’s place as one of subjection while learning in silence, not usurping authority, not seeking to teach or exercise authority over a man, 1Timothy 2: 11-14. We believe and do declare the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ as that which sets forth man’s sinful condition, God’s rich provision for sin in the death of Christ who paid the price to God for sin, and that is the only means that can extricate man from his bondage and the penalty for sin, Romans 1:16. We believe in accord with the Bible that the consequence for accepting the gift of God is eternal Life with God in heaven, and that rejecting such a gift is eternal punishment in hell, Romans 6:23.
